Italian Farm to Table
with Chef Ivan
in Manhattan (Greenwich Village)
We had a 9-person private cooking class with Chef Ivan and it was fantastic! We split up into two groups and learned different techniques to create a delicious 3-course meal. We had a couple of folks who had dietary restrictions, which were seamlessly accommodated. Chef Ivan was knowledgable and handled our questions with ease. I'd recommend this class to groups and anyone who wants to learn authentic cooking techniques from an experienced chef.

This experience was very much worth it. It was truly hands on and engaging. Everyone got their aprons on and hands in the mix, literally! I went with my partner, and we had a class with 2 other couples, and 2 solo individuals, making the class size 8, which is perfect--I wouldn't recommend any more than that. Chef Ivan was very patient with each of us, he gave an excellent overview of what we'd be doing for the session, and explained cooking terms and tips expertly. The dining experience was also nice and cozy. We ran a bit out of time at the end, only because our group was so chatty! The only thing I wished for was to see how the salmon was prepared at the end, although he had walked us through the process already. Great experience, and I highly recommend to anyone, whether for a couple's bonding, friend's gathering, or team building. Excellent experience, and excellent food. The best part is, we could sit down eating at the table and proudly say that we created that!

Quaint, well-explained, hands-on class (Italian Cuisine). While I expected the cooking class to be very “commercial and or school-like†because of what I watch on tv, this was the opposite. The class of 6, at his studio, made it feel like you were cooking at home amongst friends. Everything was well explained and variations were discussed so that we could personalize the entrees if we wanted to. Chef Ivan was great and would recommend to others most definitely.

Handling Fresh Seafood in the Kitchen
with Chef Bahr
in Manhattan (Greenwich Village)
I had a great time with my first Cozymeal and cooking class with Chef Bahr! The chef was knowledgeable, patient and had a great sense of humor. We learned to make chocolate custard shuck oysters, sliced fresh raw Branzino fish for carpaccio, made Salmon poke, and watched how Chef Bar prepared paella before it went to the oven for us to share a perfect end to the night. Chef Bahr was personable and made us feel welcome. Since it was a small group (of 7) prepping at one table, it allowed us to be intimate and it was just like having friends over at your home, cooking, and having great conversations over wine and beer. (It’s BYOB! Although you can get drinks at the bar). Great vibe and energy amongst the group.
The class on was hand-ons and we learned a lot of helpful tips and tricks on handling seafood, food shopping and we all shared our love of food and favorites eats around the city. The recipes were easy to follow. The food was fresh, delicious and plenty for everyone – we practically licked everything off the plate!
With the time allotted, the class was well organized – we created a 5-course meal in 3 hours and we got to eat it! And best of all it was a relaxed experience – no pressure to rush through and to finish on time. In fact, we lingered after just chatting and friending each other on Facebook! I came alone and had a memorable experience. And of course it’s great for dates and having fun with a friend. I can’t wait to get those recipes from Chef Bahr! Thank you!

Chef Bahr is a fantastic host chef, offering a relaxed and open kitchen lesson within a cozy setting. Questions can be asked at any time and Chef Bahr's tips from sourcing the freshest seafood down to slicing techniques were all highly valued. My confidence in attempting different seafood recipes at a top tier restaurant quality has increased immensely. Looking forward to the next Cozymeal experience!

Exploring the South of Italy
with Chef Michael

We came with a group of 8 people. While we all had a nice time, and chef Michael was very kind and welcoming, the learning experience was a bit of a disappointment. One menu item consisted of caprese, which literally required us to chop a tomato, basil, and mozzarella. The main dish was a pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe. We thought we'd be handmaking the pasta. Instead we just poured store bought pasta in the pot. This felt more like a cook letting you help them in the kitchen versus an actual cooking class. Enjoyable experience, but hardly a lesson.

Italian Dinner With Tiramisu Finale in NYC
with Chef Paige
in Manhattan (Midtown West)
We attended an Italian dinner cooking class where we made fresh mozzarella, homemade pasta, and tiramisu—and they also served a delicious chicken marsala. I went with my wife and our two daughters, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience for all of us.
Chef Paige made the class both fun and informative. She explained techniques clearly, kept things engaging, and made sure everyone felt comfortable participating, regardless of skill level. We walked away having learned some great cooking tips that we’re excited to try again at home.
The food we prepared was absolutely delicious, and it was especially rewarding to enjoy a full meal that we helped create ourselves. It was a perfect mix of learning, hands-on activity, and family time.
I would highly recommend this class to anyone considering a cooking experience in NYC—it’s a memorable, enjoyable, and worthwhile activity for couples, families, or even a group of friends.
