It was a great experience! I took the sushi class and it was amazing! Had plenty of sushi to take home and I feel quite prepared to do it at alone at home! Love that it is a 3-course meal I learned and ate rather than just rolling sushi as well ^___^

Booked Sushi Basics 101 with Chef Mariana in Brooklyn (Williamsburg)
I recently took a cooking class with Chef Mariana. I had an amazing time learning about the art of making sushi. Chef was so patient and really talked us through every step. She provided us with background info and techniques all while making it a fun time!! We felt lucky to learn from one of the best as she has some incredible experience and is really passionate about cooking. We made spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and crab rolls along with sashimi and a matcha creme brulee. The vibes were immaculate with great music and views. She also gave us tips on how to improve our sushi making skills. We had the best time and would recommend this class to anyone interested in trying something new, while having the best time. I also appreciated the fact that we got to eat the food we cooked at the end of the class. It was all delicious.

Booked Essential Vegan Sushi with Chef Denis in Manhattan (Midtown)
We had an amazing night cooking our vegan meal with Chef Denis for my husband's birthday! He was able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and even asked about alternative dessert options for us. We ended up making a delicious matcha cake that we garnished with his homemade rose petal jam. Chef Denis helped us make our leftover food into a tasty salad. We can't wait to book another class with him in the future.
Booked Sushi Roll Techniques with Chef Ivan in Manhattan (Greenwich Village)
We loved the class and chef Ivan was patient, informative, and warm. We would have loved to learn more about selecting the fish and preparing it (proper sourcing, slicing technique, etc.) but recognize time is limited. Perhaps this information can be included in the information provided after the class?

Booked Essential Vegan Sushi with Chef Denis in Queens (Long Island City)
From me: Chef Denis was great! He was very knowledgeable and patient (I literally didn't even know how to hold a knife). He was also just interesting to chat with! My boyfriend, Greg, and I had a great time taking his class! Everything was delicious! He was great at giving instructions and brought any cooking tools I might've not had in my kitchen. I think the only feedback I'd give is having more options for vegan recipes on the Cozymeal menu overall! I'd totally love to do another class in the future, as one of the most difficult parts of going vegan/vegetarian is cooking things from scratch as opposed to heating up the overpriced/over-processed meat substitutes ? From my boyfriend who took the class with me: Hey yeah absolutely seconding everything Isa said. Denis was a great instructor and a joy to cook with. He walked us through the recipes at our pace, demonstrated all of the steps, and made sure to get us both involved as often as possible. As a person, he was funny and interesting, with many stories to share about cooking and beyond.

Chef Ivan, Thank you for reaching out to me. I was going to write you because The Chef was amazing and we had a great time learning how to make Sushi. We learned 4 different types of sushi and after we create our own sushi. We made miso soup and finally we made Macha ice cream. It was a top experience for us not only we learned how to make sushi we had sake and met wonderful people that we shared laughs throughout the night. If I could give stars I will give 5 star âï¸ âï¸ âï¸ âï¸ âï¸. I already recommended this cooking lesson to friends and family and I will continue doing it. Please tell the Chef to continue sharing his pasión and kindness. You are an Exceptional Chef. Thank you again for unforgettable night in your kitchen! Best, Leslie Vaculin

Booked Sultry Sushi - Date Night with Chef Emily in Manhattan (Hell's Kitchen)
We were not a fan of this cooking class, especially when so many great cooking classes exist in NYC. The instructor knew what they were doing, but didn't seem especially engaged with the class. One big issue was that this was billed as a date night cooking class, yet my partner and I were at a table with another couple and the four us cooked a meal together. In other words, the steps were split between four people, so my partner and I didn't complete the entire recipe (i.e. we cooked the rice, they fried the shrimp, we cut the vegetables, etc.). At a cooking class, I'd expect to make the entire recipe myself (or at least the entire recipe with my partner). In addition, the sanitary precautions were pretty terrible. We cut raw shrimp with a knife and cutting board and then were told to use the same knife and cutting board to cut the sashimi grade salmon. Definitely not sanitary. Finally, the amount of food we made was pretty small... we grabbed a few slices of pizza afterward. Short answer: find a different class; they exist.
Booked Sultry Sushi - Date Night with Chef Emily in Manhattan (Hell's Kitchen)
I recently had the experience of booking a Date Night cooking class, and while I wanted it to be a delightful surprise for my husband's birthday, it unfortunately turned out to be quite disappointing. Here’s the breakdown: First, I have to give a shoutout to our chef, Tina! She was fantastic—definitely a 5-star personality! Charming and engaging, she really tried to make the best out of a last minute changes. Her team worked hard, and I appreciate that. However, the experience itself fell short for several reasons. I booked the class on the same day before midday, and I was excited, but the location wasn’t disclosed until a few hours before. When we arrived, our names weren’t on the list, and there was no table set up for us. To make matters worse, we were informed that they didn’t have enough ingredients because four others had booked last minute. We were short on rice, which was disappointing. Instead of the promised tuna, we were given salmon, and again, there wasn’t enough for everyone. It’s frustrating that with a little planning, they could have sourced more ingredients from a nearby Whole Foods, which was just a three-minute walk away. Instead, they decided to divide what little they had among 13 people. Overall, I’m sad to say I won’t be booking through this website again. It’s a shame when a fun idea turns into a letdown, especially when you’re hoping to create memorable moments.
