Booked the class The Best of Italian Favorites with Chef Kenneth in Manhattan (Upper East Side)
Chef Ken was great-had a relaxed easygoing but professional manner. He came with everything he needed short of a blender which we provided for and assorted pots/pans. We learned a lot-and were put to work in a fun voluntary manner..our groups got their hands dirty from time to time but Ken also cooked/kept things moving forward as we were also catching up while watching/learning. I was impressed by the time saving use of the blender and various shortcuts learned to save time/effort that provided delicious results! Chef Ken taught us how easy some of these dishes were to make-incredible arancini in a marinara sauce, a fantastic Caesar salad w homemade dressing, homemade gnocchi in a Gorgonzola sauce, and delicious homemade cannoli w chocolate chip ricotta filling! He did a great job of passing tips and tricks along the way.. Our group learned a lot and agreed we would like to recreate some of these dishes at home again. I would recommend working w Chef Ken for your next cooking lesson/dinner party!

Cooking classes in NYC are hands-on recreational sessions where you prepare dishes and practice culinary techniques with a chef’s guidance. Being in one of the most food-forward locales in the world provides access to some of the city's finest gourmet instructors. NYC cooking classes explore specific cuisines and techniques. You might prepare fresh agnolotti del plin, cavatelli and fettuccine in Greenwich Village, practice dumpling making or achieve the most delectable Indian curry.
Cooking classes for adults in NYC include beginner-friendly sessions as well as specific menus and techniques for experienced home cooks. You can also join public classes with other guests, or select a more private experience by reserving a session for your party. Depending on the listing, you can cook at the chef’s venue or arrange for a traveling chef to lead the class at your location.
“When people join my class, they should be aware that they are actively participating, not just standing and watching me cook. Also, skills aren’t a problem because the classes are catered for beginners and I’ve been teaching culinary classes for 28 years. Participants ALWAYS come away from my experience with knowledge they didn’t have before, from knife work to dough preparation, sautéing and oven work to plate design.” — Chef Denis, NYC-based Cooking Class Chef on Cozymeal
Cooking classes in NYC offer a fun way to spend time together, meet new people and share a meal you’ve helped create. Couple cooking classes let lovers chop, stir and taste their way through date night cooking classes in NYC, while friends can catch up as they cook. Solo guests can meet fellow food lovers, and travelers can add a shared culinary experience to their visit. Classes also suit birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, family reunions and holiday gatherings.
Families can also look for classes designed for children or teens, where the tasks and age requirements suit the participants. Preparing ingredients gives children a chance to explore how food feels, smells and changes as they cook. As pediatrician Dr. Nimali Fernando explains, “You can help your child explore foods when cooking using other senses besides taste. This helps to build positive associations with food.”
The chef’s background is part of the experience. The chefs teaching classes available on Cozymeal bring a range of professional backgrounds to the kitchen. Some have spent decades cooking in Europe and the United States; others have trained in Michelin-starred kitchens, led restaurant teams or built their own catering businesses. That experience adds depth to the instruction, giving you opportunities to ask about ingredients, understand why a technique works and learn practical approaches you can use in your own cooking.
For guests seeking personal interaction, a smaller class or private booking offers a way to ask questions more candidly about ingredients, preparation and the cuisine. Handling the ingredients yourself also makes the relationship between technique and the finished dish easier to understand: you can see how preparation affects texture, flavor and timing in real time.
When choosing which cooking class in New York best suits your needs, start with what you want to cook and who is coming with you.
Compare the dishes and methods in each listing. With NYC pasta making classes, look at the shapes, doughs and sauces covered. Sushi making classes in NYC cover different preparations, so choose a menu featuring the rolls or techniques you want to learn. Pizza making classes in NYC give you a chance to work with kneading and tossing dough, while baking classes in NYC focus on particular recipes and pastry techniques. If you’d like fresh ideas for everyday meals, explore healthy cooking classes in NYC.
If you’re new to cooking, look for a beginner-friendly class with step-by-step guidance. If you already cook regularly, choose a menu or technique that builds on your experience. For couples and celebrations, consider the atmosphere and whether you want other guests present. Corporate organizers can compare NYC team building activities for group formats suited to their plans.
Sharing your experience with a community of aspiring cooks in a public class can be an important part of partaking in cooking classes around NYC. You'll meet others who may be at the same level as you, which can make learning together a less daunting prospect. You may also encounter cooks who are above or below your skill level, which may provide inspiration for your culinary journey.
Private sessions are reserved for your party. A chef-hosted experience may use a home kitchen or another culinary venue, while selected chefs can lead a class at your location. Some mobile cooking classes don’t require access to a full kitchen. Experiences such as sushi making, taco making, guacamole making and charcuterie board workshops can be arranged at homes, offices and event spaces with minimal kitchen facilities.
If you have a particular venue, menu or celebration in mind, contact Cozymeal with your preferred date, location and group size to discuss options. You can share allergies and dietary restrictions during the booking process in the message field to the chef.

Compare cooking classes in Brooklyn, NYC, with options in Manhattan and Queens to find a location that fits your day. For example, you can find cooking classes in Manhattan that bring steakhouse specialties into focus or choose a cooking class in Flushing that brings the authentic character of Asian cuisine to life.
If you’re happy to travel to the chef, a class in their home kitchen offers a personal setting for the experience. For those who prefer to learn in the comfort of their own home, a session with a traveling chef brings the course to you. For larger groups, a commercial kitchen or suitable hotel event space may offer more room. Confirm the venue’s capacity and cooking facilities when arranging your class.
Booking through Cozymeal is straightforward: choose your experience, select an available date and enter your guest count. For a custom event or help finding a venue, the Cozymeal team can assist.
Before your class begins, check to see if there are any arrival instructions like door codes or specific directions for parking or entrance to the venue. If the chef is coming to you, clarify any kitchen or access requirements. Plan your route and allow enough time to arrive before the class begins. Check the venue’s directions and, if you’re driving, nearby parking options.
“The biggest factors to consider before joining a class are traffic and parking. I would recommend driving if you can, because I wouldn’t bring the leftovers on public transportation here.” — Chef Denis
When the class begins, the chef introduces themselves and the menu, and demonstrates the techniques you’ll use. You’ll prepare the dishes with the chef’s guidance, practice new techniques and ask questions as you cook. Coordinated assembly and cooking of the dishes on the menu will give you a sense of how precise timing factors into the overall process. Once completed, your dishes are ready to enjoy. Settle in with your fellow student chefs, whether that’s your partner, kids, or brand new friends, to enjoy what you’ve made, chat about the experience and share your favorite moments.
Finish by asking the chef any final questions about the techniques you’ve practiced and how to use them in your own kitchen. At the end of the class, the chef will either give you the menu and recipes to take home or send them to you through the Cozymeal system. If you’re cooking at home, the chef will clean everything up before leaving.
“Because most of my classes are in Brooklyn or Manhattan, groups can explore the neighborhoods before or after the class because they’re well-stocked with coffee shops and other great places to visit. Participants usually ask me about my favorite places to visit and we compare notes” — Chef Denis
