Measure and prep all ingredients for the air fried okra. Prepare a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
Prepare the breading. In one shallow bowl, add the finely ground yellow cornmeal, all-purpose flour, garlic powder, dried oregano, smoked paprika, salt and black pepper. In a second large bowl, place the buttermilk.
Place the sliced okra into the buttermilk, tossing to coat evenly. Place 4-6 of the sliced okra into the cornmeal mixture, making sure to let the excess buttermilk drip off before transferring the okra.
Thoroughly coat the sliced okra. Place the coated okra onto the parchment paper lined sheet pan. Repeat with the remaining okra. Transfer the sheet pan to the freezer for about 15 minutes.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Place the okra in a single layer in the air fryer basket and drizzle with the avocado oil. Air fry for about 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure that the okra is evenly browned and shaking off any excess breading. Repeat with the remaining breaded okra.
Serve the air fried okra with a creamy sauce like a Sriracha aioli. Serve and enjoy!
