Assemble a stunning fruit tart and a honeyed apricot frangipane tart from scratch.

Learn to make a variety of summer tarts from scratch in this hands-on cooking class in Austin. You’ll prepare both pâte sucrée and pâte brisée, then use them to create a fruit tart, a honeyed apricot and almond tart and a savory squash and ricotta tart with pesto. Chef Karen or a resident chef will guide you through dough preparation, shaping and baking techniques. This cooking class in Austin is perfect for anyone looking to build confidence with sweet and savory pastry.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

This class is suitable for ages 14+ with an adult present. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Class price is per person.

After pursuing culinary school and retiring from teaching, Chef Karen became a chef instructor in 2019. Promoted to Culinary Lead in 2020, she continued to excel, recently stepping into the role of Resident Chef. Working as a Chef Instructor has rekindled her passion for food and sharing culinary knowledge with every guest she meets.

I’m no longer intimidated by preparing a Beef Wellington thanks to Chef Karen! Chef walked us through each step of preparation and voila! The best Beef Wellington accompanied by green beans and mashed potatoes! I’ll be making this menu for my family soon!
