Cooking Class - Eco-Friendly Cooking

What You’ll Do

Create a light three-course meal and that is as kind to your guests as it is to the environment.

This menu celebrates market fresh food from the sea and the earth including a risotto, a refreshing slaw, and a vegan lemon date tart. Chef Yapo will demonstrate stock and vinaigrette preparation, then instruct on how to re-route ingredients that would normally go to waste. He will guide you in building a compost bin for your home to transform kitchen scraps into rich compost for your garden.

Chef Yapo’s love of unique and global flavors is evident in all of his cooking, as well as his commitment to the environment of which he is constantly aware. This interactive class spotlights flavors from Southern California and will get everyone involved in the preparation and cooking.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Yapo graduated from San Diego Culinary Institute and quickly learned that he loved talking about food with the customers more than working in the restaurant, so he started working for people directly with local and organic foods in 2009. Chef Yapo enjoys handmade pasta, unique flavors and global fusion flavors, and is very passionate about no-food-waste-cooking and teaching others how to do it.

Chef Yapo is great! He was so gracious with his time and even offered to walk my girlfriend and I through the entire process of the meal! We learned so much and are excited to do some more cooking on our own :)

Chef Yapo provided a great experience for my family! We bought the cooking class for my dad as a Christmas present because he loves cooking and being with family. He was extremely thorough. Brought all of the ingredients and everything that we needed. He provided us a lot of education about cooking and the ingredients. We never knew how much work it was to make ravioli but Chef Yapo made it easy! My dad and family loved the class! Thank you!!!
