McDonalds has announced probably the biggest surprise of the year — the arrival of the much-awaited Chicken Big Mac. This famous sandwich has previously launched in other countries like Canada and the U.K. and is now making its way to the U.S.

What Is McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac?

This new fast food item features two tempura-coated chicken patties (similar to the McNuggets) that replace the traditional beef patties, maintaining the classic Big Mac sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and the signature middle bun. The only topping removed from the Chicken Big Mac that’s seen in a regular Big Mac is the onions.

The beef-based Big Mac has long been the most popular McDonald’s item, but the fast food industry's rising obsession with chicken sandwiches has spurred this search for more poultry options. The Chicken Big Mac seeks to capitalize on the popularity of both chicken sandwiches and the classic Big Mac to grow the chain's market presence even more. 

When Is the Chicken Big Mac Available in the U.S?

This version of the Big Mac was previously seen on menus in Miami and could be created by cleverly using some McDonald’s secret menu hacks. However, this will be the first time the Chicken Big Mac is available on official menus across the U.S. 

McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac will be available starting October 10, 2024. Fans can take advantage of this new menu item at most locations, but note that it is currently a short-term deal, with Chicken Big Macs only available while supplies last. 

Is There a Special Kai Cenat McDonald’s Meal?

To mark the launch of this new menu item, there is some buzz around the fact that McDonald's has teamed up with well-known streamer Kai Cenat to release a limited edition Kai Cenat McDonald’s Meal. The streamer recently shared a video debuting the Chicken Big Mac in an order that also included medium fries and a Sprite.

However, McDonald’s has not confirmed if a Kai Cenat McDonald’s Meal will officially be available to order or if they simply paired with the influencer to debut the product to his vast audience. Either way, this collaboration is a strong part of the chain’s strategy to enhance the sandwich's launch in the U.S. market, especially among younger audiences.

The Chicken Big Mac is set to be one of the brand's biggest launches of 2024 and follows a series of recent McDonald's menu upgrades, such as the re-introduction of the popular $5 Value Meal, the addition of the Collector's Meal and new McFlurry options. While the sandwich may end up becoming a permanent menu item, be sure you grab at least one this month to give it a try before it potentially disappears for good!
