Learn tips and tricks for making homemade seasonal jams, preserves, and jellies from a top chef.

Experienced in the art of preserving fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, Chef Kelly loves sharing her wealth of knowledge with students and teaching them fail proof techniques to endeavor into preservation at home.

This class covers the basics of home preservation, including how to safely use the water bath canning process to preserve your jars for up to a year. Ingredients shift seasonally, but past creations include dynamic flavors like strawberry lavender jam and kiwi ginger jam. Each participant will bring home two jars of fruit preserves made in class, a canning utensil kit and a list of recipes and resources.

I grew up in rural Kansas, where food preservation traditions were strong. Both of my grandmas taught me how to make jams, pickles, sauces--and how to preserve them all for a well-stocked cellar. I love sharing my passion for food preservation with other people. Seeing people get excited about their first jar of sauerkraut, or hearing from someone who caught the 'canning bug' and began making jams for all their holiday gifts is what I love most about this job!

I really enjoyed attending Chef Kelly's class. Not only is her home cozy, but I love how knowledgeable she is about pickling and creating jams. You can tell she is extremely passionate about it, and that really makes the class 10x more fun! I learned so much that day and I look forward to taking her next class.
