Cooking Class - 4-Day Foodie Fun Kids: Baking Fun - Centennial

What You'll Do

Gift your child with essential culinary skills this summer in a fun 4-day baking camp.

Throughout four days of discovery, kids ages 7-11 become more creative cooks while having lots of fun in this engaging cooking series. Young chefs can explore baking through a new lens that simplifies complex processes and introduces time-saving measures and kitchen safety instructions. They'll flip sweet and savory crêpes, knead yeasty dough and discover the art of cake baking and decorating. The summer cooking classes are taught by an accomplished chef, and each participant takes home recipes and a frame-worthy certificate of completion.

Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

This dim sum class was fast paced but fun! You definitely had to pay close attention! Chef Deb was very knowledgeable however was stretched thin with 16 people in the class to help at once. Food was delicious- this was my 3rd cozy meal class and I’d be happy to try another again!

The class focused on wonton, gyoza and dumpling preparation. Overall, the skills and tips acquired were useful to repeat it successfully at home the following day. A big disappointment was realizing that the person leading the cooking class had no idea that the group was going to include 16 people. The leading chef appeared distressed by this and claimed they had no idea (I then wonder what purpose the reservation list has?) and had to be asked to set up two extra working stations so that everyone could enjoy the time we all paid for. Overall enjoyable experience, but several organization flaws were evident, which should/could be easily fixed in the future.

1. We cooked Indian food. 2. I learned cooking techniques I hadn't known previously and was introduced to kitchen gadgets that are now on my shopping list. 3. I most enjoyed being with the other people and sharing the task. 4. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in increasing cooking skills and wanting a fun night out.
