Slice the bagel and toast until golden brown.
Spread a generous layer of cream cheese or "schmear" the cream cheese over the warm bagel.
Layer the sliced cucumber and onion (or scallions).
Place the salmon on top and sprinkle on the capers. Spread any remaining cream cheese on the top half of the bagel.
Grate the black pepper over the salmon and add the dill cut in half. Serve the smoked salmon bagel with strong coffee or tea. Enjoy!
