Cooking Class - Udon Noodles Two Ways

What You’ll Do

Knead, roll and cut udon noodles into two Japanese specialties.

With a culinary education that took root early in her mother’s home, Chef Kaori’s cooking pedigree dates back two generations to her grandmother’s ramen shop in Fukushima, Japan. Explore authentic Japanese cuisine and all the ingredients and techniques to preparing it in your kitchen.

Master the technique to preparing authentic homemade udon noodles from scratch, from mixing the dough, to boiling for the correct consistency, and finally combining them with other ingredients to create two iconic Japanese delicacies. Create a stock and deep-fry prawns for a tempura udon soup and select seasonal vegetables to sauté in a delicate yaki-udon. Chef Kaori will close the class with a striking green tea crème brulée.

Chef Kaori was a really fun teacher. She is very knowledgeable of asian cuisine and has a passion for cooking. She has taught all ages of students including kids. I really enjoyed her Udon noodles soup that we made from scratch. The green tea creme brulee was also delicious.

Chef Karoi was a wonderful teacher at tonight's ramen class! We learned all about how to make the noodles and the process she went through to create the broth. Between the ramen and gyoza, we were stuffed by the end. We will definitely be taking what we learned and recreating the process at home in the future. So if you are interested in what it takes to make flavorful broth and delicious noodles, definitely check out this class. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I had a great time in Kaoris class learning to make ramen and gyoza. The pace of the class was good and the setting was very casual, felt like good old home cooking in the kitchen. We had a nice big bowl of ramen to eat in the end and got to snack on some yummy pork gyoza in between. Kaori was patient and friendly and open to answering questions as we moved along. Would definitely be interested in trying another class in the future with her.
