Discover professional chef secrets for making the perfect crust for an all-American apple pie.

Knowing how to make a pie is a cornerstone kitchen skill. In this interactive virtual baking class, you'll learn how to make handmade apple pie from start to finish — the truest culinary example of love. You can bake your homemade pie right away or your world-class chef will supply instructions on how to freeze it so you can impress guests with a golden apple pie any time.

Ingredients


3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt (or sea salt)
Вѕ cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch (if using berries of any kind; not necessary for other fruits)
1 teaspoon spice (optional): cinnamon, ginger or cardamom
2 Вј sticks (10 ounces) unsalted butter
6 apples, anything BUT Macintosh or Red Delicious (or 2 pounds any fruit you like)
1 lemon
2 tablespoons heavy cream or 1 egg (for glaze; optional)

Pie plate (8- or 9- inches)
2 large mixing bowls (if making crust by hand), or 1 large bowl + 1 food processor
Parchment paper or Silpat baking mat (optional, but handy)

The Apple Pie class is one of the best cooking classes I have ever taken and I have taken many. The Chef provided so many details, such good tips and explanations for the suggested tips. I enjoyed the class and recommend it to others.
