In this hands-on class with Chef John, you will learn how to prepare a three-course menu that showcases the iconic hometown specialties of Washington D.C., and uses ingredients sustainably grown and harvested within 50 miles of the city.

Some of the recipes you can look forward to creating in this class include an appetizer of chicken with sweet and tangy mumbo sauce, classic jumbo lump Maryland blue crab cakes with a side of cabbage slaw and pan-fried corn, and grilled watermelon with a subtle smoky flavor and caramelized sweetness for dessert.

Guests are welcome to provide wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef John was outstanding during our Valentine's Day experience! Every dish in our 3 course meal was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor! I'm an excellent cook (not my words), but I still wanted to learn more from an expert, and Chef John gave me several insightful tips during our experience. He was respectful, engaging, humorous, and personal - all without divulging too much or prying into our guests private conversations. He cleaned, washed dishes, and even swept after all the courses where complete. Chef John remained in constant communication with me in the Cozymeal interface and address our dietary restrictions, as well as our request for an alternative "pastry-style dessert!" I will recommend him to my family, friends, and colleagues.

We had such a lovely cooking experience with Chef John. He arrived on time(early), had such a personable and laid back demeanor, and really made us feel comfortable creating these dishes. He carefully explained all the steps and let us be as involved or least involved as we wanted. Not to mention that the mumbo chicken, crab cakes, fried corn, and grilled watermelon were such a nice portion size and super flavorful. Thanks Chef, for helping us celebrate our dear friends birthday in a fun and delicious way!?❤️?

First of all, the meal was delicious. But beyond that, John gave us many helpful tips and took the time to explain each step in the cooking process. He also gave each of us an opportunity to assist in the preparations for each course. A very delightful evening with a personable and friendly chef.
