Cooking Class - Traditional New Orleans Fare

What You’ll Do

Discover the playful attitude and ingredients that are key to creating traditional New Orleans dishes.

In this hands-on class, Chef Syrena invites you to join her and discover both the deep traditions of New Orleans cuisine as well as the city's willingness to welcome outside influences, which is showcased in her four-course New Orleans menu.

Chef Syrena will teach you how to blur the lines between tradition and innovation in the kitchen with recipes like fried oysters, slow cooked and smothered chicken in gravy paired with dirty rice, and a classic New Orleans dessert of fresh bourbon peach cobbler topped with homemade whipped cream.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Syrena came to our motorhome while we were visiting New Orleans. Special assignment: cook a kosher meal using only the utensils available in the motorhome and food approved as kosher by me! It was fantastic! Blackened redfish with herb roasted potatoes, asparagus and fumee sauce followed by her version of bananas Foster, banana deep fried in egg roll wrap with caramel banana liqueur sauce. Amazing, had a great meal, watched a great chef cook!

6th Annual NORBCC Golf Tournament. I wish, I could submit pictures. [Seriously] Not only was the food tasty, but the attention to details was above and beyond - [food] Display; presentation [of food on chopping boards, etc.]; flow of the food stations... Chef Syrena brings her "A" game to an event.
