I have over 30 years of professional restaurant and cooking experience, ranging from traditional French cuisine to organic vegetarian food. I had the good fortune to study with the founders of the French Laundry for ten years which helped create my philosophy about food. I believe food should be delicious, accessible, and straightforward to create. All my classes are designed to showcase a meal students can go home and create for a dinner party or for friends.

Was totally a lot fun! We had a great time and ate so much yummy food. The tips on where to get ingredients and the recipes were totally inspiring. Feel like I could replicate the food at home. Will definitely do this again!

Evening was wonderful. Douglas really knew what he was doing and I learned a lot --heard some things I had never heard before about cooking. He was very kind and the food was great. We made a lot of stuff. He gave us his email address and said if we email him he will give us the recipes. Really fun, full evening. I wanted to give you feedback from our event with Chef Douglas on Saturday evening, January 9th.
In addition to me and my husband, we had two other couples join us. From the moment we walked into Chef Douglas' beautiful home, we loved the evening. Chef Douglas was a gracious host, well-prepared (i.e. doing time-consuming activities in advance), and a great teacher. He calmly and patiently explained the menu, had copies for us, cutting boards set up, aprons and towels available. The meal itself was delicious! Between the six of us, we had brought several bottles of wine, which Chef Douglas had recommended. It was a wonderful experience, a great menu, an excellent chef and teacher. Our guests told us a number of times how much they enjoyed the evening.

The meal was delicious. I learned some techniques and recipes to apply outside of the class. Chef Douglas was welcoming and created a friendly atmosphere for the class. If you're an avid cool and want a new experience, I would recommend it. If you've never cooked before in your life, is recommend it even more.

I had the luck to book Douglas with two of my friends and no one else. Loved the attention from him and his partner, who together should have their own sitcom. So funny and so welcoming. Their house was so nice and the recipes were exactly what I wanted. Easy enough for any skill level and complicated enough to impress my friends. Can't wait to do another class.

Chef Douglas was amazing! We were able to schedule our team outing on short notice (a week out) and had a great time at his beautiful home. Scott and Douglas made us feel very welcome and they were very patient with teaching us the ins and outs of Spanish cuisine! The food was delicious and we even had some leftover paella for snacks later.

What a wonderful evening. My gf and I celebrated our 4yr anniversary and I'm so happy we did. Chef Douglas is a great teacher, told great stories and did a great job delegating the kitchen duties.

Chef Douglas is amazing! I loved hearing the stories behind the dishes we were cooking. He was great about giving suggestions/modifications for dishes and even informed us where we could buy certain ingredients for the recipes. He was warm, funny and enthusiastic with our group. We had an absolutely fantastic time with Chef Douglas and Scott. Every course of our meal (we made the Halibut) was incredibly delicious and so well thought out. Chef Douglas did a fantastic job of guiding and teaching our group throughout the night and made the whole experience both entertaining and educational. This was, without a doubt, one of the best dates my girlfriend and I have had in San Francisco.

We had an amazing meal with Doug, who was incredibly gracious and instantly made everyone feel at ease. The food was absolutely delicious, and I plan on making those dishes again! But by far, the best part of the experience was getting to cook and eat communally. My boyfriend said it was the best surprise gift ever! Thank You!

We had so much fun cooking and learning from Chef Douglas! We were welcomed into his beautiful home with a smile and a nicely laid out menu of all the food we would be cooking and enjoying for the evening. He has a way of making even the most tricky meals look easy... We learned to make California French duck and we left knowing we were given the tools necessary to pull it off at home! He is a talented chef and patient teacher with a wealth of knowledge and a kind spirit. Thank-you Chef Douglas for a truly delightful experience :)

We had our company holiday party at Chef Doug's and everything was perfect! Chef Doug was so nice and accommodating to our large group and everyone had an great time. The food was delicious and Chef Doug did an amazing job explaining different cooking techniques. A professional, cozy, exquisite meal.
Chef Douglas created a wonderful meal in a wonderful atmosphere. He carefully explained how dishes were made and graciously provided insights and suggestions. Being vegetarian and having friends that prefer an intimate setting, to a noisy restaurant, this was a great option. This was our first of many more cozymeals. I highly recommend it.

Chef Douglas was great. He worked with us closely and we setup a surprise cooking dinner party for my wife.
* We had the Halibut - it was really awesome.
* The meal was fun an interactive to prepare - After having Chef Douglas walk us through the process, I feel confident that we could try this all again at home.
* Chef Douglas was very responsive when planning and coordinating. In our case, we only had a baby-sitter for a limited time. Chef Douglas worked with us to trim down the prep time of the meal.
* Douglas and Scott were gracious hosts. Their home was warm, inviting and beautifully decorated.

The four of us truly had a wonderful evening cooking & dining at Chef Douglas' well decorated home. The kitchen was easy for all of us to manoeuvre, Chef Douglas way of teaching is very nice, clear, warm, the European way. The food was excellent, we left with much left overs. I learned tons of tips while enjoying myself. A perfect way to have celebrated my birthday. I want to do it again!

We had a wonderful time with Chef Douglas! He even provided several vegan options after I mentioned that we'd like to try a few vegan dishes. We laughed and shared stories over wine and didn't really want to leave. We had a FANTASTIC evening with Doug showing myself and my husband how easy and fun it is to cook Paella (and we did it while enjoying some preprepared tapas, and sipping on drinks). Doug is a fantastic teacher with a very relaxed attitude that disguises the fact you are even in a lesson (but believe me it all sinks in). He has a beautiful home and attitude, and although we were paying guests it felt very much like cooking with friends. He also provided beautifully printed recipies for us to take home, I recommend doug and any of his classes to all.

Douglas was amazing and the evening was spectacular. Douglas hosted a dinner for my wife's 30th birthday. As a husband trying to do something special, it was great to see my wife smile the whole way home. She said it was perfect and unique and far better than a dinner out. Douglas suggested a great menu and kept the evening paced with food. He even started off the night letting us help prepare her cake which would later serve as the final course. Everything was delicious, including the variations he made to accommodate a couple of our vegetarian guests. His beautiful house not only set a wonderful atmosphere, but was also a subject of design conversations through the evening. I can't recommend Douglas and Cozymeal highly enough. I will certainly be back.

I was planning a surprise birthday party for my partner, and really liked the idea of a cooking lesson with a few good friends with the ultimate goal of sitting down together at the end to enjoy the meal. In reality, the experience was much more than that. Douglas was excellent in coming up with the appropriate menu. He was extremely welcoming into his beautiful home. Everyone in the class (both skilled and novice) walked away with some great learnings, a few new recipes, and a ton of laughs along the way. Each course was outstanding... I think we all hit our "highs" on an absolutely amazing cake at the end. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to sharpen their kitchen skills while having a ton of fun.

The squash soup was very tasty. The upper leg of the chicken was surprisingly delicious. The sauce on the chicken was well paired. The salad was simple, clear and flavorful. The cake served with whipped cream was perfectly sweet.

Amazing dinner! The 5-course meal was just delicious while still pretty healthy as Douglas always uses the best ingredients. The people who came to the dinner were really nice and everyone had such a great time. Also, Douglas partner is an interior designer and his place looks beautiful.
