What You’ll Do

Master Basque cuisine in a cozy cooking class for two

Instead of going out for dinner, reinvent date night with an intimate cooking class where you’ll unlock the secrets to flawless Basque cuisine. Chef Karen will show you how to cook a decadent four- course Basque meal.

Learn Chef Karen’s technique for marinating mussels, then pair them with granache vinegar, fresh herbs, and capers. Blister padron peppers and create a homemade aioli, then learn how to cook a traditional Alubias Rojas del Goierri, a Basque red bean stew with Spanish chorizo and morcilla. The meal ends with braised Basque chicken and chorizo, studded with peppers and artichokes.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

I have been a personal chef, caterer, and culinary instructor in the greater Seattle area for 19 years. In 1995, I started teaching classes to anyone who wants to learn and I love to teach. There are few things I like seeing more than the look in someones eyes when they "get it". I enjoy helping people learn the skills to take care of themselves, and loved ones, in the most simple and profound way with food. Food is an international language which everyone speaks.

I had always wanted to book a cooking class with my girlfriend and cozymeal exceeded expectations. It was an all around fantastic experience. From learning about different minerals in food and how important the right ingredients are to cooking a delicious food. Our class was with Chef Karen, who is a very colorful person and made the whole experience of preparing the food lots of fun. We will definitely try it again and book another cooking class.
