Cooking Class - For the Love of Filipino Food

What You’ll Do

Explore the exotic flavors and indigenous ingredients of the Philippines through this widely beloved menu.

In this hands-on class with Chef Kryssie, you will learn how to prepare an impressive four-course Filipino menu completely from scratch.

You'll begin with a simple crepe salad bursting with complex flavors. Then, you will learn how to make classic Filipino bread rolls with a subtle sweetness and pillowy soft texture by hand! For your entree you will learn how to brew sinigang — a savory-sour stew brimming with indigenous ingredients, poached salmon, and umami goodness. You will end with a celebratory — and gluten-free — Filipino rice cake for dessert.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Kryssie is one of those type of chefs that you want to stumble upon and then brag to your friends about your fall to culinary greatness! Trying not to be biased since I also hail from the Philippines and also work on a lot of food shows, Kryssie smartly created a dinner that showed her Pinoy pride while elevating the dishes to an unexpected level of sophistication. Making it clear that she was not giving us "traditional" Filipino food, I must applaud her for plating us a very traditional sense of Filipino hospitality along with her delicious creations. It's almost hard to imagine her as a banquet chef because last night made you think she was already at the helm of her own restaurant. I will be back and I must tell all feature guests, Chef Kryssie is definitely one to watch and break some serious bread with!
