The experience was not at all what was described on Cozymeal's website. Overall Maybe this was my own misunderstanding but Cozymeal lists the experience we booked as Steak Dinner for Two. I expected a fun date night with my wife where we cook something new together, drink some wine, and then enjoy a nice meal. In reality, it's just a cooking class where we cooked and ate I'm groups of 4. The other couple at our table was great, but I wasn't expecting to double-date with strangers. Menu I picked this experience in particular because my wife LOVES steak frites. Cozymeal said we would be making steak, fries with a garlic aioli, and a chocolate lava cake. The only accurate part of that description was the steak. It tasted ok, but only after sitting through a 10 minute sales pitch for the Sous Vide system the chef used. The rest of the menu was good (pear and arugula salad, baked potato, and chocolate mousse) but completely different than promised. Drinks Water was the only beverage provided. If we wanted coffee, we had to go into the store and get a sample from one of the espresso machines they were selling. Summary If you want a cooking class, book directly through Their website is more accurate. If you want a fun date night activity with some quality time with your significant other, use a different service.

This was definitely an unexpected experience all around. The cooking class is hosted by Sur La Table. About 5 minutes after the class was scheduled to start, all ~16 students were standing outside the room waiting to go in. The chef finally came out with a roster and she actually yelled at people to “hurry up” and get inside. The class continued with some of of that same chaotic energy and a few “unprofessional” comments (“the pans are ribbed for her pleasure”) given the crowd (father/son). The food was tasty, but nothing incredible. My partner and I both felt like we didn’t learn anything new, but enjoyed our time there.

I was lucky enough to attend two classes recently, both taught by Kate. First, we went with some friends to a sushi making class. Then last week I went with a different friend to learn to make stuffed pasta. I thoroughly enjoyed both experiences and feel like I learned a lot and will be able to put those things into practice. I've already used one of the recipes I came home with for a winter squash salad that's delicious.
