Cooking Class - Kitchen Fundamentals

Tackle kitchen fundamentals with Chef Karen as your guide.
There will be no limit to the recipes you create thanks to this experience! Through this cooking class, Chef Karen will help you tackle six fundamental culinary techniques: Knife skills, soup making, browning and braising meats, pan sauces, roasting root vegetables or smashing potatoes and cooking leafy greens.
After preparing a leek and corn chowder appetizer, you'll learn how to expertly braise chicken thighs with apricots, figs and fresh spices and make either smashed potatoes or roasted root vegetables. Finish by learning how to bake the most decadent molten Belgian chocolate cake.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Meet your chef
Chef Karen, who attended Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts and previously ran a prepared meals company and catering business, has been crafting incredible fare for her clients for almost 20 years. As a private chef and instructor, she stresses that, “great cooking isn’t about recipes — it’s about techniques.” Chef Karen strives to make her cooking classes and team building events a fun and hands-on way to bond while acquiring new skills.

Chef Karen and her co-chef created a great, non-judgmental, fun experience. The food was amazing and my wife and I got to meet some local people. Each group worked on separate dishes. It was really nice to enjoy all the separate dishes together at the end as one group. It felt a bit like a family meal.

Chef Karen and Chef Anne were amazing instructors as we and our group created a Moroccan meal. They did much of the prep so we were cooking and learning in a relaxed atmosphere and the results were excellent. We all learned loads and we felt like we had made new friends by the end of the evening. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone who wants to spend an evening learning useful skills and having a great meal. We brought a nice bottle of wine along which added to the experience.

It was wonderful! Amazing how organized Chef Karen and Chef Ann were given the complexity of the meal. I learned so much and the meal was absolutely delicious…. one that I will feel comfortable preparing myself. Great chefs and what a dinner!

We came to a Bachelorette Culinary event. There were 7 of us and we all loved it! Chef Karen is so knowledgeable and patience. She is very responsive on emails. We had a lovely dinner in the backyard. I would highly recommend it. Of course, the Maroccan cuisine we cooked was delicious!

What a great experience! My girlfriend and I attended Chef Karen’s cooking class and absolutely loved the entire night. Chef Karen had so many great tips and techniques to preparing food that we had never known before. In addition to being a brilliant chef, Karen is simply a lovely person to talk to and share a meal with. I would highly recommend Chef Karen to anyone looking for an intimate night of cooking and learning.
